NEARLY 15,000 FOREIGN TOURISTS ARRIVE IN BALI, INCREASING THANKS TO VOA

THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy noted that there were almost 15,000 foreign tourists who arrived in Bali since the initial reopening until Saturday (3/26).

According to the Deputy for Marketing of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Nia Niscaya during a virtual Weekly Press Briefing, Monday (3/28) said that from the beginning of the arrival of foreign tourists, especially Bali (February 2022) until March 26, nearly 15,000 tourists had come to Bali.

“The growth is clearly visible between when foreign tourists were still using e-visa, and when they used Visa On Arrival (VOA). There can be a number that can be obtained by e-visa in one month, while VOA in one week is very visible,” said Nia.

Furthermore, he explained that there are five countries with the largest VoA users for the Indonesian region. The five are Australia, Singapore, the United States, France, and the United Kingdom. If based on data before the pandemic, their spending is above average.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno also said that this policy did not trigger an increase in COVID-19 cases for some time. With the increase in VOA, we expect it to be progressive, gradual and sustainable. This is also a new optimism for economic revival.

More than 4,000 foreigners have entered Bali since the Visa On Arrival (VOA) took effect. Meanwhile, since the first day the Visa on Arrival took effect from Monday (7/3/2022) to Thursday (3/24), there were 4,057 foreign nationals who entered Bali.

Quoted from antaranews.com on Sunday (3/27), details of foreign nationals who used VOA included 1,016 people from Australia, 500 people from Singapore, 444 people from the United States, 362 people from France, and 354 people from England.

Likewise, the Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in Bali, Jamaruli Manihuruk, said that some foreigners who entered were also not using VOA. Meanwhile, for those who do not use VOA, they usually have previously applied for a visa. So maybe the goal in Bali is not two months but more than that.

“Staying in Indonesia with a visa is six months, so it can be extended four times, while VOA is only once and has a limited time,” he concluded. [sources/photo special]
