FOREIGN TOURIST VISITS TO BALI IN MARCH 2022 REACH 14,000 PEOPLE

VISITS of foreign tourists coming to Bali jumped by 1,016.03% in March 2022 compared to February 2022.

According to the Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Bali Province, Hanif Yahya (5/11) explained that many foreign tourists are starting to visit the Island of the Gods. There is an interesting phenomenon in the tourism sector, because at this time tourism began to squirm in the first quarter of 2022 for the period of March 2022. The number of foreign tourists visiting reached 14,620 people in March 2022.

“The highest visits came from Australian tourists as many as 2,327 people, United States 1,276 people, Germany 1,186 people, England 1,173 people and France 1,029 people. The increase in the number of foreign tourists contributed to the tourism sector’s income and linearly also impacted the Bali economy in the first quarter of 2022,” he said.

This phenomenon is reflected in the hotel room occupancy rate (THK) in March 2022, where the THK for star hotels reached 21.90% or an increase of 7.04%. Meanwhile, THK for non-star hotels reached 7.60% or an increase of 1.28%. Meanwhile, the highest increase was achieved by THK for 5-star hotels reaching 24.21% or an increase of 12.09%.

Hanif Yahya explained that Australian tourist visits were dominant due to the opening of direct flights from Australia to Denpasar, resulting in an increase of 15.92%. The number of flights to Australia in March 2022 is up to 225% on a month-to-month basis.

“This is also related to the increase in aircraft departures in March 2022. There were 128 international flights recorded in March 2020. Month to month there was an increase of 321.90%, while year on year there was an increase of 341.38%,” he said.

He explained, in terms of passenger departures to international routes in March 2022 it reached 11,168 people months to month and there was no comparison in March 2021 because at that time there were no flights departing abroad.

The direction of international flight destinations in March 2022 was dominated by Singapore with 87 flights, followed by Australia with 13 flights, the Philippines 8 flights, Malaysia 7 flights and Timor Leste 3 flights. [sources/photo special]
