THERE IS A 632-METER GLASS BRIDGE IN VIETNAM OFFERS A CHALLENGING SENSATION

A BRIDGE that stands over a canyon as high as 150 meters and 632 meters long with a floor made of glass is present in Vietnam, offering a challenging sensation for tourists.

Quoted from Reuters recently, the suspension bridge was named Bach Long or which can be translated as “White Dragon”. The bridge is in Son La province, northwest of the capital, Hanoi, and borders Laos.

“I don’t dare look down because I’m afraid of heights,” said one visitor, Vi Thi Thu, who ventured on the bridge after the official opening on Saturday (5/28) local time.

The glass used for the bridge has three layers, each 40 mm thick, and can accommodate up to 450 people at a time, according to a statement from the facility owner. This bridge has a length of 290 meters between the two peaks on both sides of the canyon and a 342 meter long path on the cliff side brings the total length to 632 meters.

Previously, Guinness World Records listed the 562-meter glass-floored bridge in Qingyuan, Guangdong province, China, as the longest in the world.

“There was a certain technique required to build the bridge to the side of the cliff but to retain all the natural elements, the greenery, the rocks, it was an extraordinary project,” said Guinness World Records representative Glen Pollard who attended the opening ceremony.

The World Record Association (WRA), also a record certification body, has listed the 632-meter Bach Long bridge as the longest bridge in the world. Another visitor at the opening said he quickly got over his nervousness while walking on the bridge.

“At first it makes you panic, but then if you walk around 10 panes of glass, the feeling goes away,” Tran Xuan Tinh finished. [antaranews/photo special]
