INDONESIA WILL CREATE A NATIONAL TOURISM AND TRAVEL DEVELOPMENT INDEX

INDONESIA will create an index or statistical assessment for national tourism and travel, known as IPKN. The National Tourism Development Index (IPKN) is a platform to measure the magnitude of the role of local governments in building a tourism ecosystem in the region.

The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno said that the index refers to the relevant derivative of the Global Travel and Tourism Development Index (TTDI) indicator version of the WEF (World Economic Forum). This program is an effort from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy to increase national awareness in forming a sustainable and resilient tourism ecosystem.

“So, it is hoped that the tourism ecosystem will be able to accelerate the development of national tourism. Currently, IPKN is still in the process of drafting guidelines and maturation of concepts. The statistical index is targeted to be released at the end of 2022,” he said.

The impact of TTDI on the development of the tourism sector
The focus on working on the domestic tourist segment is proof of the swiftness of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy or the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency in restoring the Indonesian economy.

For information, the Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index (TTCI), which is now the Travel and Tourism Development Index (TTDI), is a benchmark for economic indicators, infrastructure, and policies related to travel and tourism for 15 years.

In a period of 15 years, the World Economic Forum (WEF) adjusts various indicators and methodologies to be relevant to the current situation of travel and tourism developments. In addition, WEF has credible international partners to obtain actual and factual data from each country.

These things are WEF’s efforts so that TTDI can be a valid comparison tool, as well as represent the current conditions of travel and tourism.

So that it can be used as a strategic measuring tool for policy makers, companies, and other stakeholders in order to advance the future development of travel and tourism.

In addition, the TTDI measures the potential drivers of a country’s travel and tourism development, as well as how resilient the development of travel and tourism will be in the future. So that it can be used as a reference for investors to invest in the country by looking at the TTDI. [sources/photo special]
