THE KOREAN Tourism Organization (KTO) introduced an exciting concept in traveling to the ginseng country called “Glocal”, a blend of global and local.
Quoted from a press release on Friday (7/08), this follows a recent trend where travelers visit places that have local characteristics, and the unique culture of a place can be spread to various international communities.
“Seoul is charming but South Korea also has other unique charms. For example, Andong or Gyeongju. Tourists can visit these areas to enjoy nature, see historical places, and see local people’s lives up close,” said PR & Media Manager KTO Jakarta, Irma Maulida.
She explained that the Glocal concept has become possible with the development of a transportation network that will bring tourists to various regions easily and quickly. In addition, the availability of tourism information becomes easily accessible through media and social media.
“South Korea itself has an excellent transportation system, which includes high-speed rail services, which can take tourists anywhere in a short time. In addition, each region is uniquely different based on its geology and weather. Tourists will enjoy the charm of traditional culture that is well preserved in each area,” Irma Maulida remarked.
She continued that there are several areas that are Glocal tourist destinations with their own uniqueness, such as Incheon, Gangwon-do, Daejeon, Chungcheongnam-do, Chungcheongbuk-do, Daegu, Jeollabuk-do, Jeollanam-do, and Gyeongsangnam-do.
“We believe the concept of Glocal tourism will bring tourists closer to local culture with all its unique characters, and we believe that tourist visits to this Glocal destination will be an unforgettable visit,” Irma noted.
Meanwhile, earlier this year, South Korea has gradually returned to welcoming tourists. Indonesian tourists can also apply for a short-term visa (C-3) starting on June 1, 2022. South Korea has also started implementing quarantine free to make it easier for travelers to enter.
In addition, KTO is also conducting a ‘Travel to Korea Begins Again!’ campaign. to welcome tourists. Through this campaign, KTO provides various information on recommended destinations, discounts and various attractive prizes from various series of events being held. [sources/photo special]
