THE MINISTRY of Transportation revealed that Dhoho Airport in Kediri Regency, East Java, will start operating as planned in October 2023.
According to the Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi when reviewing the progress of the construction of Dhoho Airport in Kediri, East Java, Sunday (7/17) said the airport was built within the timeframe that is planned to be used in October 2023. With the use of this airport, we hope that the connectivity of the Kediri area and its surroundings will be better, especially since the runway is 3,300 meters long.
He explained that the 3,300-meter runway is the ultimate airport qualification and can be landed by a Boeing 777. In fact, according to the plan, Kediri’s Dhoho Airport will also be used for Umrah and Hajj purposes. With that, of course, the people in Kediri and its surroundings are happy with the construction of the airport.
“Our party appreciates the private sector who has participated in building infrastructure, helping the government so that connectivity can be realized. Dhoho Kediri Airport is one of the airport projects built under the Government and Business Entity Cooperation (PPP) scheme. In this case, the construction is carried out by PT Gudang Garam through its subsidiary PT Surya Dhoho Investama,” he said.

“Of course, in the future, it is hoped that there will be good connectivity. For example, it will be used as a cargo airport, of course, bus industries will be built around the airport. Even with the beauty of the mountain, agrotourism can be done selectively so that Kediri becomes a place, a city that can become a good industry but also a tourist destination. This can also provide an increase in income for the surrounding community,” Minister Budi stated.
Meanwhile, the Regent of Kediri, Hanindhito Himawan Pramana, said that Dhoho Airport was the first airport in Indonesia to be built by a private company, in this case PT Gudang Garam Tbk. Kediri will later become the new epicenter of East Java’s buffer besides the city of Surabaya.
“Until June 2022, the overall construction progress of Dhoho Kediri International Airport has reached around 50%. For earthworks, progress has reached 83.16%, on the air side or 15.35%, and on the land side or 3.06%,” he said.
This airport will have a runway length measuring 3,300 x 60 meters, a commercial apron measuring 548 x 141 meters, a VIP apron measuring 221 x 97 meters, four taxiways, and a parking area of 37,108 square meters. On the land side, the airport will have a passenger terminal covering an area of 18,000 square meters with a capacity of 1.5 million passengers per year. [antaranews]
