THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy announced that Bali will officially host the peak event for the 42nd World Tourism Day commemoration on 27 September 2022.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno in the Weekly Press Briefing at the Sapta Pesona Building, Central Jakarta, Monday (8/8) said that in the 42nd edition of the World Tourism Day celebration, Indonesia had the honor to host the peak celebration of World Tourism Day. which will take place in Bali on 27 September 2022.
“The celebration of World Tourism Day 2022 will carry the theme “Rethinking Tourism”. Where, this theme will also be promoted by UNWTO (United Nations of World Tourism Organization) through media partners,” he said.
Sandiaga explained, this theme aims to inspire discussion around rethinking tourism for development. This includes education and employment, and discussions about the impact of tourism on the sustainability of the planet and the opportunities for sustainable development.
“The series of celebrations for the 42nd World Tourism Day will be filled with a multi-stakeholder discussion panel with the theme “Rethinking Tourism as a Key Element on Recovery” and also a discussion with the theme “The Tourism We Want” which will be led by representatives from the tourism sector. in Bali. UNWTO member countries will be invited to strengthen the celebrations and key messages of World Tourism Day,” he stated.
In addition, he continued, to enrich the celebration of the 42nd World Tourism Day, said Sandiaga, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy will hold a series of Road to World Tourism Day 2022 programs which are filled with program activities such as seminars, competitions, social services, clean rivers, and reforestation activities. involving tourism stakeholders throughout Indonesia as well as six tourism polytechnics under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism.
“In addition, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy also appeals to all other tourism pentahelix stakeholders such as local governments and regional tourism offices, tourism associations/institutions, tourism businesses, the media to participate in celebrating World Tourism Day in their own way,” Sandiaga noted.
