PEDULILINDUNGI TO BECOME PUBLIC SERVICE APPLICATION: HEALTH MINISTRY

THE MINISTRY of Health stated that the PeduliLindungi app would become a public service application that allows people to access electronic medical records through the application.

PeduliLindungi is a COVID-19 tracking application developed by the Indonesian government to help curb the spread of the virus launched in March 2020.

“PeduliLindungi will become a public service application and not only for COVID-19,” Health Minister’s expert staff for healthcare technology, Setiaji, stated during a virtual press conference followed here on Friday (9/9).

Setiaji explained that PeduliLindungi will be used as a public service application since its ecosystem is already available, and its users have reached more than 100 million people.

“Rather than developing a new system and application, of course, we will use PeduliLindungi that is already known and (will) add its features,” he remarked.

One of the services that will be provided in PeduliLindungi is access to electronic medical records and other health services.

Setiaji, who also serves as the Chief Digital Transformation Office (DTO) of the Health Ministry, noted that other parties, such as hospitals, can access the electronic medical records of patients with the new version of the application.

For people without phones, he ensured that integrated health services, including electronic medical records, can still be accessed in health facilities.

Speaking in connection with data security, he affirmed that apart from using the Health Ministry’s system, data protection is also conducted in health service facilities. Dissemination of information and education will also be conducted to ensure the safety of the electronic medical records service.

“We will also implement the blockchain system, but later, not now, so that security will become even stronger,” the expert staff further remarked. [antaranews/photo special]
