THE NUMBER of visits by Indonesian tourists on holiday to Switzerland has increased over the last few months in 2022, based on data from the Swiss Federal Statistics Office. The numbers rose in August and September 2022, when compared to the same months in 2019 or before the COVID-19 pandemic.
“August 2019 to August 2022 rose 3%, while September 2019 to September 2022 rose 34 percent. That is our latest data,” said Director of Southeast Asia Switzerland Tourism Batiste Pilet in a recent webinar.
Throughout the year in Switzerland this figure is actually said to still not show an optimal positive increase, because the previous months, namely January to July 2022, the decline in tourist numbers still dominates.
“If accumulated as a whole, from January to September there was a decrease of minus 35 percent,” he added. Nevertheless, he hopes this number can increase positively, especially towards the end of the year, welcoming the Christmas and New Year holidays. [sources/photo special]
