AIRASIA ADDS BANDA ACEH-KUALA LUMPUR FLIGHTS TO FIVE TIMES A WEEK

MALAYSIAN airline AirAsia will add flights to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) 2 route – Sultan Iskandar Muda Airport (SIM) Blang Bintang Aceh Besar to five times a week starting on Monday (12/05).

Previously, since October 2022, AirAsia only operated two flights a week to Aceh. If this November it only flies Wednesday and Friday, then in the future it will fly on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Only Tuesday and Saturday are there no Kuala Lumpur-Banda Aceh flights.

According to the Head of the Aceh Transportation Service, T Faisal confirmed that AirAsia will add flights to the Kuala Lumpur-Aceh route. If previously it was only twice, then in the future it will be five times a week. He said, all flights will fly in the afternoon.

Based on the notification letter from AirAsia signed by the Station Manager, Saiful Aminan, to the Head of the Aceh Transportation Service, it is stated that the plane will arrive in Aceh at 16:55 WIB and will return to Kuala Lumpur at 17:20 WIB, and land at 19:50 local time Malaysia.

From the schedule notified by AirAsia, between one day and another there is a difference in flight schedules of about 20 minutes. Due to Monday take off at 17:20 WIB, then Wednesday at 17:30 WIB, and Thursday at 17:15 WIB.

T Faisal said, with the addition of this flight, it would make SIM Aceh Airport more vibrant and busy again. This is because several other airlines will also open international flights from Aceh.

He hopes that the increase in the number of these flights will also coincide with the growth in passenger mobility from both directions, so that these flights can continue to survive and increase.

“Now the people of Aceh or vice versa can fly to Malaysia every day. Even though AirAsia goes to Kuala Lumpur 5 times a week, there will also be Batik Air and Firefly flying to Penang. Starting December 15, Batik Air will start flying every day the route from Penang Bayan Lepas Airport to Aceh Besar SIM Airport,” T Faisal remarked.

Previously, Firefly would have already opened flights to Penang on a schedule twice a week, namely Monday and Friday. Monitoring by Serambi on the travel agent’s website, Batik Air, Fire Fly and AirAsia tickets are sold starting at IDR800,000 more, both to Penang and Kuala Lumpur. Even for the New Year’s High Season, Airasia tickets to Kuala Lumpur can still be found for IDR1.1 million. [sources/photo special]
