FINANCE Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati stated that infrastructure was the actual result of state budget utilization for people.
“When explaining the state budget through numbers, people usually do not get it. However, when you see the results, such as roads, dams, and campuses, that have been built —whether it is for classrooms, laboratories, or road access— only then people feel that the figures in the state budget (are true),” Indrawati stated at the 2022 Public Works and Public Housing Ministry’s Stage 2 assets handover ceremony accessed here on Wednesday (12/07).
Thus, the government continues to inform the public of various sources of state money, so that people understand the management of funding and see the actual results.
She pointed out that infrastructure, which is a state asset or State Property, was built using the State Budget obtained from tax revenues, customs and excise, Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP), and even some in the form of State Securities (SBN) or Government Securities (SUN).
From the various development processes conducted all along, the value of state assets until 2021 had reached Rp11,454 trillion. This value is, of course, highly dependent on the valuation and quality of the assets, so it is not only seen from the value side.
Hence, Minister Indrawati saw the importance of the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry’s contribution in bridging and assisting the Finance Ministry in properly communicating the state budget from various development processes.
“We all understand that the essence of development is to build to create an impact on the people’s welfare,” the minister remarked.
For this development, a part of it was covered by state funds and part by the public and the private sector. Hence, development using the state money must also be accountable to the public through the state budget mechanism. [antaranews/photo special]
