THE MINISTER of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno claimed that there were no significant cancellations of tourist visits after the ratification of the Draft Criminal Code (RKUHP) by the House of Representatives (DPR) on Tuesday (12/06).
“And last Friday, there were no significant cancellations. So thank God, but we continue to monitor so that we make sure every movement is for monitoring and evaluation,” he said when met in the North Jakarta area, Saturday (12/10).
He said that as a monitoring and evaluation effort, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy had deployed a team, one of which was in Australia to observe the movement of hourly tour bookings. Then in a number of other potential main markets, such as Singapore, Malaysia and India, there have been no reports of cancellations as of Friday at business closing time.
Furthermore, he conveyed that there was an increase in foreign tourists arriving in the country through two main airports namely Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Jakarta and I Gusti Ngurah Rai, Bali.
“But it’s still very early days, so we will make sure to communicate and socialize that I guarantee tourists will get a safe, comfortable and enjoyable experience in Indonesia,” he said.
He conveyed this in relation to the ratification of the RKUHP by the DPR on Tuesday (6/12), where in one of the articles there is a rule relating to the prohibition of cohabiting which will be prosecuted if there is a complaint from the husband/wife for people who are bound by marriage, or parents/children for people who are not bound by marriage.
For this reason, Sandi will socialize with the community, especially business actors in the tourism sector regarding the new Criminal Code Law.
“We make sure, we socialize that tourism in Indonesia is safe, comfortable and fun. We make sure to socialize to travel agents and tour operators that their tours are guaranteed to be safe, comfortable and we are very welcome,” Minister Sandiaga concluded. [antaranews/photo special]
