SHEIK LEO’S BISHT CLOTH BID FOR IDR15 BILLION FOR MESSI AT WORLD CUP 2022 IN QATAR

AN OFFER worth US$1 million has been made for Argentina captain Lionel Messi to ditch the Arabic [bisht] robe he wore when he lifted the 2022 World Cup trophy in Qatar. It was an Omani lawyer and member of parliament, Ahmed Al Barwani, who dared to make such a big bid for the bisht worn by Messi.

On social media, Al Barwani made the offer: “From the Sultanate of Oman, I wish you congratulations on winning the 2022 World Cup Qatar. Arabic Bisht, symbol of decency and wisdom. I offer you one million dollars [£829k or equivalent to IDR15.5 billion ] in return for the bisht. I was in the stadium watching the moment live when the Emir of Qatar gave bisht to Messi.”

“That moment tells the world that we are here, this is our culture, please know well. It will be shown to commemorate a moment of pride, and to help us relive it, and also remind us that we can [do anything]. This tournament is a source of pride and highlights an important fact of how we have not forgotten Palestine and that the Arab people are one and united.”

It is believed that the offer from Al Barwani will certainly not make Messi tempted by releasing the iconic bisht. The PSG and Argentina superstar understands how great an honor it is for a foreigner who does not have an Arab background, but to be able to wear bisht at such an iconic moment in the World Cup winning ceremony.

What is next? Reportedly, this bisht will be kept in the Leo Messi museum in his hometown, Rosario. [sources/photo special]
