INDONESIA’S Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Bahlil Lahadalia said that four regencies in Papua namely Biak Numfor, Waropen, Yapen Islands and Sarmi will focus on tourism and investment.
“In these four districts, the focus is on tourism and investment. The investment is fisheries,” Bahlil said after attending the launch of Sail Teluk Cenderawasih in Jakarta, Friday (02/03).
Bahlil said that his party, together with Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif, will build a Kaltim Fertilizer plant in the West Papua region with an investment value of approximately Rp20 trillion.
“The total investment with upstream oil and gas is around IDR40 trillion-IDR50 trillion, which we will start in 2023. If asked what the weight is, tourism, investment and nationalism. Building this country however NKRI is a framework in building the welfare of the community,” Bahlil said.
Meanwhile, Biak Numfor Regent Herry Ario Naap said that his region targets to export tuna, yellowfin, bluefin, crabs, shrimps and several other potentials in four regencies during the Cenderawasih Bay Sail which runs until November 2023.
“We also need to convey the commitment that until now we in the Saereri region in Cenderawasih Bay, especially in Biak, we have not brought in chicken eggs and several products from outside because we have produced them ourselves,” Herry said.
Herry hopes that Papua Sail Teluk Cenderawasih can become the axis of Indonesia’s economic growth in the Pacific for the eastern region. This is what we are committed to in the implementation of Sail Teluk Cenderawasih in 2023. [antaranews]
