150,000 INDONESIAN TRAVELERS IS TARGETED TO VISIT TAIWAN DURING 2023

TAIWAN is targeting around 150,000 Indonesians to visit Taiwan in 2023 and strengthen tourism ties between Taiwan and Indonesia. Before the pandemic, Indonesian tourists visiting Taiwan totaled more than 230 thousand people in 2019. And this year after the pandemic, we are targeting at least 150,000 people to visit Taiwan.

According to Taiwan Tourism Bureau Director, Abe Chou in a statement here on Monday (02/27), the Kuala Lumpur-based Taiwan Tourism Bureau said it will ease visa application procedures for Indonesian tourists who want to visit Taipei, including providing incentives to foreign tourists in groups through the guanheng project and online travel authorization applications to Taiwan.

“The countries selected for group visa incentives are Indonesia, India, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar. For online travel authorization applications,” he said.

He explained that applicants have one visa document from Taiwan, Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, the US, the UK or Schengen countries, but this does not apply to Taiwan visas through the Guanheng project. For Indonesians who have a Japanese visa exemption, it can be used to apply for a Taiwan authority certificate.

“Taiwan is ranked the number two destination in the MasterCard Crescent Rating Global Muslim Travel Index 2022. We are pleased to invite Muslim friends to experience a friendly and safe travel environment in Taiwan,” Chou remarked.

At the same time, representative of the Taipei Economic and Trade Office (KDEI), John Cen hopes that the tourism relationship between Taiwan and Indonesia will strengthen, especially after the pandemic.

“I hope many Indonesians will visit Taiwan and vice versa, many Taiwanese will also visit Indonesia,” said John Cen.

Cen also wants Taiwan tourists not only to know Bali because Indonesia has many good tourist attractions besides Bali, such as Borobudur, Komodo Island, Lake Toba, and Raja Ampat. He hopes that Indonesia will also improve Indonesia’s tourism environment so that it can be more comfortable and safer like Taiwan. [sources/photo special]
