FRENCH CRUISE SHIP BRINGS HUNDREDS OF FOREIGN TOURISTS TO VISIT KAIMANA

A FRENCH-flagged cruise ship, KM Ponant, carrying 147 foreign tourists visited the Triton Bay tourist area in Kaimana Regency, West Papua.

According to Surangga area rights owner, Kundrat Wariensi in Kaimana, Tuesday (02/28), said the cruise ship arrived at the Triton tourist area since Monday (27/2). The ship departed from Darwin, Australia. This ship’s travel route is a new route. After departing from Darwin directly to Triton Kainana Bay. Finally, the ship will make a stopover in Bali. In the near future, one more cruise ship will enter Triton Bay Kaimana.

“The foreign tourists who boarded KM Ponant were already quite familiar with the beauty of Kaimana Triton Bay tourist destinations. They have started to recognize the Triton Bay tourist area because they have entered our tourist area in Surangga several times,” he said.

Kundrat explained the tourists do diving and snorkeling in the Triton area. Their activities are the same as previous activities, because they really like the Triton area.

Kundrat claimed to have submitted a request to the relevant ministry in order to develop Surangga tourist attraction and two other tourist sites in the Triton Bay tourist area of Kaimana.

Currently, Kundrat and his colleagues are preparing local community resources so that in the future when this tourism access is opened, local people will not only be spectators but become the main subjects of tourism activities in Triton Bay Kaimana. [antaranews/photo special]
