PHRI EXPECTS THE NUMBER OF HOTEL VISITS TO INCREASE AT THE END OF RAMADAN

THE INDONESIAN Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) projects that the number of increased tourist visits at new hotels will rise in the fourth week of Ramadan ahead of Eid al-Fitr.

“When talking about tourists or visits in the fasting month later, it’s actually relative. If we talk about domestic, of course the domestic movement generally from year to year in the fasting month is not too big,” said Secretary General of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association Maulana Yusran, Wednesday (03/01), 2023.

According to Maulana, the trend of community movement occurs at the end of Ramadan, while at the beginning of the fasting month their activities are usually normal, then decreases in the middle or second and third weeks, and only in the last week there is an increase due to homecoming activities.

This year is the first moment of the Holy Month of Ramadan that takes place after the lifting of the Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM). Seeing this, Maulana also said that he was optimistic about the number of visits this year.

Because in 2022, Maulana said that public enthusiasm at the end of Ramadan before Eid had increased. This is also expected to happen again this year.

“We are definitely optimistic. Because we saw in 2022, although PPKM had not been revoked, at that time the movement had also been loosened. We saw that the enthusiasm of the community was also quite large at that time,” he explained.

Nevertheless, Maulana explained that there is no definite target for the number of visits during the holy month of Ramadan until Eid this year. However, he hopes that the number is at least the same as the moment before Eid in 2022.

“Moreover, last year’s joint leave was about 10 days. This year we have 4 days if I’m not mistaken. We expect the movement to grow at least the same as last year,” Maulana concluded. [antaranews]
