THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy is optimistic that the Lido Tourism Special Economic Zone (SEZ), which was recently inaugurated by President Joko Widodo, will become one of the tourism destinations and also a creative economy center that has a strong attraction for tourists to travel #DiIndonesiaAja.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno after accompanying President Joko Widodo to inaugurate the operation of the Lido Tourism SEZ, Friday (03/31), 2023 said, the Lido Tourism SEZ was built on an area of 1,040 hectares. This Tourism SEZ will have various attractions ranging from theme parks, waterparks, hotels, golf courses, movieland, and many others in the future development stages.
“We will welcome a new era of tourism that there is a world-class tourist destination that is only one hour away from Jakarta. This (destination) holds many tourist attractions such as movieland, music and art centers, and in its development we can also get sports tourism and there is also ecotourism,” Sandiaga said.
Sandiaga further said, with such great opportunities, the Lido Tourism SEZ is expected to support the target of achieving the number of tourist visits of 1.4 billion movements for domestic tourists and 7.4 million for foreign tourists this year.
“We hope that the 11 million Indonesians who travel abroad, they will do their healing in Indonesia. It can also ultimately support job creation,” he said.
Meanwhile, Executive Chairman of MNC Group, Hary Tanoesoedibjo, said that in addition to the tourist area, the Lido SEZ will also prioritize the concept of education where a techno park will also be presented to make it like Silicon Valley.
“We have explored with various universities abroad with good reputations to build campuses in this area. Including for startup development because the area is quite comfortable for beginners who want to start a business, especially in the field of digital startups,” Hary Tanoe said.
President Joko Widodo, while delivering remarks at the inauguration of the Lido SEZ, said that people are expected to no longer choose vacations abroad because more and more world-class attractive destinations are present in the midst of the community.
“There are 11 million people who vacation abroad, if we just brake half of them, the foreign exchange will be very large which is not wasted to enter other countries,” said Joko Widodo.
The President also said that the presence of the Lido SEZ is a good step from the private sector in utilizing the availability of infrastructure prepared by the government.
