NTB & INJOURNEY DISCUSS PLANS TO OPEN AUSTRALIA-LOMBOK FLIGHT ROUTE

WEST NUSA Tenggara Governor, Zulkieflimansyah and President Director of Injourney, Dony Oskaria discussed exploring the opening of a new Lombok-Australia flight route. This route is planned to be served by two national airlines, namely Garuda Indonesia and Pelita Air.

“God willing, it will be realized soon, the addition of flights will also make the tickets cheaper,” Zulkieflimansyah told the media, Tuesday (5/16), 2023.

According to Zul, exploring the addition of this flight route is in order to improve connectivity in supporting Mandalika as a Super Priority Destination for Indonesian Tourism and supporting various international events that will be held in NTB.

His party also discussed adding the number of Lombok-Bali routes due to the high demand for direct flights from both. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, AirAsia had served the Lombok-Perth route. However, the route has not been operating since it was closed due to the pandemic.

Meanwhile, Lombok is connected to the Kuala Lumpur-Lombok international flight route by Air Asia airlines and Singapore-Lombok by Scoot airlines.

Likewise, Chairman of the Association of Indonesian Travel Agents (ASTINDO) NTB, Sahlan M Saleh said the Australia-Lombok flight route was a very potential market. Of course, we will carry out promotions with members to increase Australian and Bali passengers. [sources/photo special]
