BOBOBOX ENRICHES TOURISM POTENTIAL VIA LOCAL COMMUNITY COLLABORATION

THE PRESENCE of the Bobobox accommodation startup through the Bobocabin nature concept rooms is considered to have had a positive impact on enriching tourism potential through continuous collaboration with local communities and talents.

At the Cikole Orchid Forest, for example, before the presence of Bobocabin, the number of annual visitors was 1,637 in 2020, but after the presence of the Bobobox accommodation, tourists coming to this tourist attraction will reach 9.7 times more in 2021 and 11.5 times more in 2022.

This was among others revealed in the Bobobox Impact Report for the 2022 period, Travel With a Purpose: Our Story Towards Impactful Experience, which was released recently.

“As the company grows, we realise that Bobobox’s impact goes beyond providing comfortable resting facilities for consumers. Bobobox also has a responsibility to make a positive contribution to the community around our accommodation locations,” said Co-Founder and CEO of Bobobox Indra Gunawan in his official statement recently.

Through this impact report, said Indra, Bobobox wants to share Bobobox’s journey in realising its commitment to sustainability, as well as the initiatives that have been implemented to have a wider impact on consumers, employees, investors, and the surrounding community.

Offering unique accommodation that blends with the beauty of nature, this potential is further developed by Bobo Cabin. Not only is Bobocabin introducing a new tourism hotspot in Indonesia, but it also has a mission to have a more comprehensive impact on the surrounding community through partnerships with local MSMEs and recruiting local talent.

To build a tourism ecosystem that is able to have a wider positive impact, Bobocabin was built with a unique business model, one of which is not building a commercial kitchen in the accommodation like a typical hotel. As such, Bobocabin leverages partnerships with local businesses to provide food, drink, and activities that can be enjoyed by overnight tourists. Those who are members of this initiative are hereinafter referred to as MitraBob.

Meanwhile, Dewi, one of Bobocabin’s partners at Bobocabin Padusan, Mojokerto, said that after partnering with Bobocabin, her income turnover increased by 50% from before.

“I was also given the opportunity to take part in various training and business development programmes.” Through this initiative, Bobocabin is not only able to contribute to increasing MitraBob’s turnover but also allows local MSMEs to access the resources needed to increase their business capacities and capabilities,” she said.

The collaboration carried out by Bobocabin is also implemented through the absorption of local talent at each of Bobocabin’s operational locations. There are several other inspirational stories from MitraBob and the Bobocabin branch staff about the significance of Bobocabin’s presence in being able to help improve the economy of families and the surrounding community.

Until now, Bobobox has had more than 1,262 rooms spread across 28 locations in Indonesia, starting from Sumatra, Java Island, Bali, and Nusa Tenggara. With a consistent average occupancy rate of 90%.

Bobobox does not only focus on providing pocket-friendly accommodations but also promotes sustainable practises. Therefore, this impact report summarises Bobobox’s journey in revolutionising the hospitality industry through the products and technology initiatives it presents. [antaranews/photo special]
