THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy conveyed a number of investment plan developments in the five ongoing Super Priority Tourism Destinations (DPSP) that are expected to have an impact on people’s welfare.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, at the Sapta Pesona Building, Jakarta, on Monday (7/24), 2023, explained that so far there have been a number of ongoing investment projects in five DPSPs. An example of an ongoing tourism investment project is on Lake Toba, with an investment of IDR600 billion for the construction of the Labersa Kaldera Resort Hotel.
“And also in Labuan Bajo, which has a lot of ongoing development projects. We continue to push for the concept of be green tourism. Several companies, such as PT. Aqua Village Sebayur, PT. Bangun Indah Internasional, PT. Surya Cahaya Properti, Vasanta Group, PT. Bukit Bangkao Lestari, and PT. QRPG Komodo Resort, are building star villas and hotels in Labuan Bajo,” he said.
Sandiaga explained that while the Manado-Likupang DPSP plans to build a Marriott Hotel in North Minahasa with an estimated investment value of IDR1.5 trillion, the Westin Hotel in Manado City with an estimated investment value of IDR2 trillion, and the Vasa Hotel Manado in Manado City with an estimated investment value of IDR1 trillion.
Based on investment realisation data from the Ministry of Investment/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) for 2021-2023 Quarter I processed by the Ministry of Tourism, the DPSP with the highest investment realisation was in the Mandalika area (West Nusa Tenggara) with a realised value of US$541.2 million.
The DPSP with the lowest investment realisation is Lake Toba (North Sumatra), with a realised value of US$55.16 million. While Likupang (North Sulawesi) is in second place with a realised investment of US$484.29 million. Followed by Borobudur, with an investment realisation of US$366.63 million. And Labuan Bajo, with a realised investment of US$114.2 million.
“If we look at it, we have to work even harder for Lake Toba to attract more investment so that we can catch up with Mandalika and Likupang, which have already attracted quite a lot of investment from within and outside the country,” he said.
Sandiaga added that the Ministry of Tourism continues to make efforts so that investment in the 5 DPSPs can be equal through a number of investment opportunity diversification programs, clear land mapping, determination of unique positioning and themes, selection of experienced area management, concept maturation and project readiness, commitment from local governments, as well as increased connectivity and marketing.
