THE MINISTER of Finance, Sri Mulyani Indrawati invited the people of Jakarta, Bogor, Depok and Bekasi (Jabodebek) to switch from using private vehicles to light rail (Light Rail Transit/LRT) to contribute to improving air quality in the local area.
“We hope that with more and more people using public transportation facilities, it will certainly reduce mobility using private cars and will improve the air quality in Jabodebek,” said Sri Mulyani in the agenda for the Inauguration of the Jabodebek Integrated LRT which was broadcast virtually via the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube in Jakarta, Monday (8/28), 2023.
Minister of Finance said that community activities in the Greater Jakarta area are currently increasingly connected with the presence of the integration of LRT lines and trains.
Efforts to integrate the Jakarta area with a number of big cities that support the capital using the LRT, he said, are the government’s efforts to support safe and timely community mobilization.
The Jabodebek LRT, which is a collaboration project for state-owned companies PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), PT Industri Kereta Api (INKA), and Adhi Karya, is controlled automatically from the Operation Control Center (OCC)/OCC Backup centrally.
Responding to this, Sri Mulyani believes that technology can be managed properly in terms of safety, security and timeliness.
“I am enthusiastic while nervous because we are used to it in my personal experience when taking a train there is always a driver,” she said.
According to her, the operation of the Jabodebek LRT is a lesson for the Indonesian people that technology can solve societal problems and can be utilized to the fullest.
She added that infrastructure such as mass transportation is a must and the need to respond to the very high population mobilization in the local area.
“APBN, state finances will continue to support in various forms of investment both through BUMN such as KAI and through transfers to local governments,” Minister Sri Mulyani stated.
Sri Mulyani ensured that transportation subsidies were also directed at users of mass transportation services. I hope this will make Indonesia more advanced but at the same time we will protect it together. [antaranews]
