THE NUMBER OF DOMESTIC TOURIST TRIPS UNTIL JUNE REACHED 433 MILLION MORE

THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy said that the number of trips by domestic tourists from January to June 2023 reached 433 million trips. As of June 30 we have reached a total of 433 million more, but this year’s target is 1.2 to 1.4 billion trips

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno in The Weekly Brief event in Jakarta, Monday (8/28), 2023 said the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy needed around 766 to 966 million trips to reach the target number of domestic tourist trips in 2023.

He revealed that his party was coordinating with the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) to carry out adjustment steps through modifying the Mobile Positioning Data (MPD) algorithm for domestic tourists.

According to him, the peak season for tourist travel and movement of travelers in Indonesia occurs during Idul Fitri in April, school holidays in July, and year-end holidays in December.

“We only have one more opportunity to increase domestic tourists, namely the year-end holidays or Christmas and New Year (Nataru),” Sandiaga said.

Furthermore, Sandiaga said the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy encourages all stakeholders to organize Meeting, Incentive, Conference and Exhibition (MICE) activities to increase the movement of domestic tourists. MICE is part of tourism activities because it uses almost all tourism infrastructure in its implementation.

In addition, it also generates regional events by promoting tourist destinations through Karisma Event Nusantara (KEN). KEN is a collaborative strategy between the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy with local governments and all tourism stakeholders to enhance the image of Indonesian tourism and drive the revival of the tourism sector and the creative economy.

He hopes that KEN 2023 can stimulate the economy by presenting quality regional events, so that in the future Indonesia’s economic and tourism sector will continue to increase.
