THAILAND’S INT’L AIRPORT HAS A NEW INTERNATIONAL SATELLITE TERMINAL

SUVARNABHUMI International Airport in Bangkok, Thailand, has held a soft opening (inauguration) of a new international satellite terminal called Satellite 1 (SAT-1), Thursday (9/28), 2023. With this satellite terminal, it is hoped that the capacity that can be served by the airport, this increased from 45 million to 60 million in a year.

“During 17 years of operation, Suvarnabhumi Airport has welcomed 756.47 million passengers on 4.74 million flights,” said Director of Suvarnabhumi International Airport, Kittipong Kittikachorn, quoted by the Bangkok Post, recently.

The movement of passengers at this airport has shown recovery after being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic some time ago. This recovery is the background for the development of SAT-1. There is a third runway so that more planes can take off and land at the same time.

Not only that, there is also an Individual Carrier System (ICS) that has been installed at this satellite terminal. The aim is to increase baggage handling capacity in the terminal, so that baggage movement between SAT-1 and the airport’s main terminal can be smoother. [sources/photo special]
