PT KERETA Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) informed that the Whoosh Fast Train added four trips at the weekend. The additional trips were due to the number of passengers on the Whoosh Fast Train reaching up to 18 thousand people in one day on Saturday (11/04). This number is the highest record during the commercial operation of the Whoosh Fast Train on October 17, 2023.
Meanwhile, the majority of people’s travel destinations on weekends are for holidays, followed by business, work and other purposes.
According to KCIC Main Director Dwiyana Slamet Riyadi in a statement received in Jakarta, Sunday (11/05), 2023, he said that public interest in using the Whoosh Fast Train at weekends is very high.
“In fact, to meet the needs and high demand of the public starting November 1, KCIC is running 28 regular Whoosh Fast Train trips and this number has been increased by four train trips for this weekend bringing the total to 32 trips. This is the highest number of trips per day since the Fast Train “Whoosh is operated,” he said.
KCIC recorded that the Whoosh Fast Train passenger volume on Saturday (11/04) reached 18,053 passengers with an occupancy rate of 94-100%. This number increased 33% compared to the previous week on Saturday (10/28) with a volume of 13,490 passengers.
This increase was due to an increase in the number of trips by 28% from 25 trips per day to 32 trips per day to accommodate the still high number of public requests for Whoosh Fast Train trips.
KCIC also reported that the Whoosh Fast Train tickets that had been sold and ordered by the public up to departure on Saturday (11/11) had reached 216 thousand tickets. Meanwhile, the number of passengers who had departed as of Saturday (11/04) reached 170 thousand passengers.
Currently, Whoosh Fast Train tickets for November have been opened for sale in stages on the Whoosh fast train application, Access by KAI, Livin by Mandiri, BRImo, web ticket.kcic.co.id as well as counters and ticket vending machines at stations.
Dwiyana also appealed to passengers to pay attention to the departure schedule, remembering that the Whoosh Fast Train departs on time and cannot wait for passengers. The boarding gate was closed five minutes before the train departed.
“Passengers are also asked to arrive at least 30 minutes before the scheduled departure so they don’t miss out,” said Dwiyana.
He also mentioned that KCIC periodically evaluates the Whoosh Fast Train service, including evaluating the Whoosh Fast Train travel schedule, integration of transportation modes, facilities in the station area and passenger services. I ensure that passenger safety and comfort is KCIC’s main priority in providing the Whoosh Fast Train service.
“KCIC will continue to provide the best service to Whoosh Fast Train passengers. Evaluation of services and operations will continue to be carried out with all stakeholders to provide comfortable, safe and secure Whoosh Fast Train services,” he said.
The Whoosh Fast Train is the first fast train service in Indonesia and Southeast Asia which will operate at speeds of up to 350 km/hour. The Whoosh Fast Train has a 142.3 km long track with 13 tunnels and will serve four stations, namely Halim, Karawang, Padalarang and Tegalluar. [antaranews]
