TO DISCUSS best practices for developing urban tourism or city tourism which can be implemented in a number of regions in Indonesia.

In the “Bilateral Meeting with Ministry of National Development” event, at Capella Singapore, Thursday (11/09), 2023, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno met with Singapore’s Minister of National Development Desmond Lee, Sandiaga said, apart from natural and cultural beauty, Indonesia has the opportunity to develop a green urban tourism concept to increase tourist attraction.

“And Singapore is an extraordinary urban tourist destination. Able to attract more than 60 million tourists with several approaches,” said Minister Sandiaga.

One of the efforts is to determine a strategic location supported by a number of qualified facilities ranging from complete accommodation, easy access to transportation, to a variety of culinary and entertainment that can offer an impressive urban tourism experience. This effort influences the amount of shopping (spending) and length of stay (length of stay) of tourists.

“There are a number of cities in Indonesia that Menparekraf Sandiaga has targeted as urban tourism locations, namely five cities that are members of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN), namely Jakarta, Bandung, Pekalongan, Ambon and Solo. As well as five Super Priority Tourism Destinations (DPSP) and Denpasar, Bali,” Sandiaga stated.

He added, we will invite (the Singapore Government) to a workshop as part of the concept of tourism in urban areas that is green and can be optimized as an attraction.

“Because our target remains to create 4.4 million new jobs by 2024. Improve the community’s economy. So that it can open up business opportunities and revive the Indonesian economy,” he concluded. [traveltext.id]
