HALIM AIRPORT READIES ADDITIONAL FLIGHT SCHEDULES DURING HOLIDAYS

THE HALIM Perdanakusuma Airport in Jakarta has prepared additional flight schedules during the Christmas and New Year holidays to anticipate a surge in the number of passengers.

According to the airport’s executive general manager, Colonel Insan Nanjaya on Saturday (12/23), 2023 said that it has added flight schedules for the Yogyakarta (YIA), Surabaya (SUB), Palembang (PLM), Semarang (SRG), and Pangandaran (CJN) destinations.

“Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Palembang, Semarang by Batik Air, and Pangandaran by Susi Air,” he revealed.

According to antaranews’s observation on Saturday afternoon, the crowd at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport was normal, and the flow of passengers at the departure gate was smooth.

Based on the latest data obtained from the Christmas and New Year Monitoring Post at the airport, the number of passengers on Friday (December 22) reached 10,718, more than the average daily passenger count of nine thousand.

Narso, one of the travelers when met at the airport, stated that he chose to travel by plane to return to his hometown in Surabaya owing to the time efficiency.

“The prices of trains and planes are not much different, so a plane is better, as it arrives faster,” he remarked, adding that air ticket prices during the Christmas and New Year holidays were relatively normal.

The survey by the Transportation Ministry’s Transportation Policy Agency projected that as many as 107 million people will travel during the holidays. The mode of transportation will be dominated by private vehicles, with car travelers accounting for 35.6% of the total travelers.

Meanwhile, 17.9% of the travelers will use motorcycles, 13.2% will use train service, 11.9% by planes, 10.9% by buses, six percent through ferry crossings, and 3.4% by passenger boats. [antaranews]
