THE SINGAPORE Tourism Board (STB) has revealed the secret of global musicians being able to hold concerts for days in their country.
“Only a certain number of these artists tour the world every year, what I think we are trying to do in Singapore is ensure that the concert experience is seamless and comfortable for the visitors as well,” said STB Southeast Asia Executive Director, Terrence Voon in Jakarta, Wednesday (01/17), 2024.
In the near future, Coldplay will hold a concert in the Land of the Lions for six days, followed by Taylor Swift who will perform in Singapore for three nights at the Singapore National Stadium on March 2-4 2024. It is estimated that in total there will be around 330 thousand spectators who will be able to enjoy Coldplay’s appearances on different dates.
Voon revealed that Singapore’s adequate infrastructure and facilities, as well as good public transportation connectivity, made the audience, many of whom were foreign tourists, feel safe and comfortable. These factors are considerations for both the musicians and the audience.
For example, the National Stadium, a venue that often hosts concerts, is located not far from the MRT station. The average distance to the concert location is 30 minutes.
Apart from that, Voon said that Singapore has a strategic geographical location in the Southeast Asia region, thus attracting global musicians to hold concerts over a longer period of time compared to other countries.
“And the fact that Singapore is also very well connected to the rest of Southeast Asia by air, even by sea and land, makes it easy for visitors from all over the region to come to concerts, so, I think that’s why we’re quite attractive to some global artists,” Voon concluded. [antaranews]
