BALI IS THE CHOICE OF CHINESE TOURISTS FOR CHINESE NEW YEAR HOLIDAYS

BALI ISLAND is one of the destination choices for Chinese tourists during the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations, according to Airbnb China search data from January 1, 2023, to September 30, 2023, to stay abroad during the winter with check-in dates between December 22, 2023, to February 29, 2024.

According to Airbnb data as written in a press statement on January 18, there has been a significant change in interest in visiting Chinese tourists to various international destinations since travel restrictions were lifted.

This can be seen during the Christmas and end of year holidays, school holidays, and the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations. Of the ten most searched countries during the winter period, Indonesia is in seventh position, with Bali as the most searched destination.

The first most searched country is Thailand, then Japan in second place, then New Zealand, Australia, the United States and Malaysia respectively in third to sixth place. Then, Indonesia is in seventh place, followed by England, Norway and South Korea in eighth to ninth place.

Talking about tourist destinations in Southeast Asia, Chinese tourists tend to travel before or during Chinese New Year celebrations. The peak increase was seen at 14 times compared to the previous year, for the check-in period 8-18 February 2024.

They also tend to come in groups or with families. Looking at more specific data on visits to certain regions, Bali ranks fourth with the highest search volume during the winter season among the top 20 cities.

Meanwhile, Phuket, Thailand occupies the first position as the most sought-after destination, followed by Bangkok, Thailand in second position, and Queenstown, New Zealand in third position.

Bali is said to have a special attraction for international tourists with its tropical beauty, stunning natural scenery and unique cultural richness.

To attract more visitors, the Government recently introduced a Multiple Entry Visa which allows tourists to visit Indonesia several times within five years. On the other hand, Airbnb also conducted a survey of 900 Chinese tourists, which was run by Kantar in June 2023.
