KUALA LUMPUR to Singapore Changi is the busiest international flight route for 2023, according to an aviation data company. The ranking was produced by OAG, a global travel data provider, by measuring the routes with the largest volume of scheduled airline seats in both directions.
Last year there were 4,891,952 seats available on flights from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore. This number is superior to the Cairo to Jeddah route, which occupies second place on the list with 4,795,712 seats. In third place is Hong Kong to Taipei with 4,568,280 seats.
The Seoul to Osaka Kansai route is in fourth position with 4,218,484 seats, while in fifth position is the Seoul Incheon to Tokyo Narita route with 4,155,418. The Jakarta to Singapore Changi Airport route was recorded in seventh position with 3,910,502 seats.
Busiest domestic route
The busiest domestic route in 2023 will be Jeju to Seoul with 13,728,786 seats, and the busiest domestic route in the United States will be Honolulu to Kahului with 3,612,212.
Second place in the domestic ranking is Chitose Airport from Hokkaido to Tokyo Haneda with 11,936,302 seats. Indonesian domestic routes are also included in the top 10 list, namely Jakarta to Denpasar Bali with 7,190,961. Bali is one of the busiest airports because the island is a major holiday destination for Jakarta residents.
The remainder of the top 10 domestic routes consisted of Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City (fourth, 10,883,555); Melbourne to Sydney (fifth, 9,342,312); Beijing to Shanghai Hongqiao (sixth, 8,355,225); Tokyo Haneda to Okinawa Naha (seventh, 7,982,218); Jeddah to Riyadh (eighth, 7,902,142); Mumbai to Delhi (ninth place, 7,276,430), and Jakarta to Denpasar-Bali (10th place, 7,190,961).
OAG added that Jakarta-Denpasar is the only route in the top 10 busiest domestic routes that is not in the top 10 in 2019. This means the number of tourists to the island is increasing. [sources/photo special]
