RI EMBASSY URGES CITIZENS VISIT TO THAILAND TO BRING IDR6.5 MILLION IN CASH

THE EMBASSY of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) in Bangkok urges Indonesian citizens who are going on holiday or entering Thailand to bring a minimum of IDR15 thousand bath or IDR6.5 million in cash.

This is based on Thai Immigration regulations, where foreign nationals who make short visa-free visits to Thailand need to show proof of financial ability to support their lives while they are there.

Apart from that, the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok said that this appeal was issued considering that they were increasingly receiving complaints from Indonesian citizens who were not allowed to enter Thailand, because they could not show official documents.

“This appeal was issued considering that the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok is increasingly receiving complaints from Indonesian citizens who are not allowed to enter Thailand, because they cannot show these documents and evidence to immigration officers during random checks,” said the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok, as quoted from Instagram @indonesiabangkok.

However, bringing a minimum of 15 thousand to 20 thousand baht is recommended by the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok, because Thai immigration does not specifically mention the conditions for the money that must be brought.

“Thai Immigration does not specifically state the provisions regarding the minimum amount of cash that needs to be brought. However, based on open sources, it is recommended to bring a minimum of 15 thousand to 20 thousand bath cash per person,” the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok stated.

Apart from that, there are also several requirements that Indonesian travelers must fulfill when they want to enter Bangkok. These include having a passport valid for at least 6 months, having proof of a return plane ticket, having proof of accommodation or hotel reservations while in Thailand, and having financial proof to support life while there, one of which is bringing enough cash.
