ECONOMIC TURNOVER DURING EID HOLIDAY IS PROJECTED TO REACH IDR276.11 TRILLION

THE INDONESIAN Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy projects that the economic turnover in the tourism and creative economy sectors during the Eid holiday in 2024 will reach IDR276.11 trillion.

“This figure has experienced a significant increase of 15% compared to the potential economic turnover for Eid last year, namely IDR 240.01 trillion,” said the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno during the door stop “The Extended Weekly Press Brief,” which took place at Manhattan Hotel, Jakarta, Monday (01/4), 2024.

Sandiaga explained that the projected economic turnaround cannot be separated from the potential for community movement during the Eid holiday period in 2024. According to predictions from the Ministry of Transportation, there will be around 193.6 million people who will move during this Eid holiday. This figure has increased compared to during Eid in 2023, namely 123.8 million people.

“Most of the movement of domestic tourists will be towards Java Island with the three largest destination areas, namely Central Java with 61.6 million people, East Java with 37.6 million people and West Java with 32.1 million people,” he said.

He explained that 16.2% of travelers came from East Java, 14.7% from Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi (Jabodetabek) and 13.5% from Central Java, using four modes of transportation, namely trains, buses, cars and private motorbikes.

The preferences for tourist attractions in the Eid season according to the results of a temporary analysis from a survey conducted by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy are beaches/lakes, culinary centers, mountains/agrotourism, recreation parks/zoos, and shopping centers.

Meanwhile, Sandiaga continued that the favorite tourist destination for this year’s Eid holiday is D.I. Yogyakarta includes Malioboro and Parangtritis; Central Java, namely Borobudur; East Java, namely Bromo; West Java includes Ciwidey, Pangandaran and Lembang; and Jabodetabek including Puncak Bogor and Ragunan. With the average duration of a trip reaching 2 to 4 days or 1 day (day trip).

“We hope that the readiness of the destination, both for security and comfort, will also be an important part in providing a smooth schedule for the Eid holiday this year,” concluded Minister Sandiaga. [traveltext.id]
