THE 2024 WWF PROVIDES EFFECTIVE DESTINATION EXPOSURE FOR BALI

ORGANIZING the 2024 World Water Forum (WWF) provides effective destination exposure for Bali. It is estimated that up to 50,000 tourists come to Bali for the 10th World Water Forum, consisting of delegates and their companions. This will provide destination exposure for Bali in particular and for Indonesian tourism in general.

According to Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno in “The Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno”, Monday (05/20), 2024 virtually explained that by May 19, 2024, the number of participating delegates had reached 20,000, plus the total group and companions could possibly reach 50,000 tourists. Tourists who attended the 10th World Water Forum event consisted of 170 countries, including Indonesia.

“And the amount of expenditure per delegate related to this type of event is about IDR30 million. Therefore, we can predict that this World Water Forum will reach more than half a trillion rupiah or IDR500 billion in direct spending for the Bali and Indonesian economy,” he said.

Sandiaga explained however, in future calculations, it is not impossible that the total economic turnover will reach 1.5 trillion, considering that the delegation may not come alone, and there is still an economic turnover that can be seen not only from the delegation’s spending.

“The Ministry of Tourism is conducting a survey from 17 to 25 May 2025 of stakeholders, visitors and delegates to calculate the impact of holding the 2024 World Water Forum. And we have just inaugurated the World Water Forum Fair and Expo which take place on 20-25 May 2024 in Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC) and includes several Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) involved,” he concluded.

The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is committed to organizing sustainable MICE. So that attention does not only focus on economic aspects, but also social and environmental aspects. [traveltext.id]
