AS SUMMER approaches in Europe, travel data from digital travel platform Agoda shows that Asia is the top choice for European tourists. Asia is not only ranked top for destinations outside of Europe, but its popularity has also increased compared to last year, when Agoda recorded a 25% increase in accommodation searches by Europeans for trips to Asia.

Based on Agoda data, the top destinations in Asia for European tourists are Thailand, Indonesia and Japan, followed by Malaysia and the Philippines. This reflects the broad appeal of Asian destinations for tourists with a variety of destinations.

Whether looking for vibrant street life, historic sites in Bangkok or enjoying the waves on Bali’s surf-friendly beaches, European travelers want to explore what Asia has to offer. The European markets with the most searches for travel to Asia are the UK, France, Germany, Spain and the Netherlands.

Indonesia is ranked second as the most popular destination in Asia for European tourists. Accommodation in Indonesia is most sought after by tourists from France, followed by tourists from Germany, the United Kingdom (UK), the Netherlands and Spain.

According to Andrew Smith, Senior Vice President, Supply of Agoda said the increase in searches compared to last year indicates the increasing popularity of Asia as a holiday destination among Europeans.

“The effects of this trend are seen especially in Southeast Asia, but it is not surprising that the very popular Japan also ranks at the top. It’s great to see more and more Europeans exploring these incredible Asian destinations during their holidays,” he said.

The most popular destinations in Indonesia for European tourists, such as Jakarta, Bali and Lombok, are the destinations most sought after by Europeans. These destinations offer a mix of vacation, adventure and cultural experiences, appealing to travelers looking to make the most of their long-distance summer vacation.

Travelers are constantly planning and preparing for their next adventure. Agoda is committed to helping them see the world at a more affordable price through attractive offers on more than four million vacation properties worldwide, including flights and activities. [sources/photo special]
