MINISTER of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, said that Generation Z or Gen Z has an important role in promoting tourist destinations so that they can attract domestic and foreign tourists.
Sandiaga said that Gen Z is a generation that has an important role in promoting tourism because most of them like to travel to interesting or healing places, even once every two months.
“People’s housing savings (Tapera) is important, but healing is super important for them (Gen Z). Gen Z, they no longer have healing twice a year, but once every two months if possible,” Sandiaga said on the sidelines of the launch of Wonderspace, a space immersive experience using video mapping technology in Jakarta on Saturday (06/1), 2024.
According to Sandiaga, Gen Z will do healing regularly and will definitely upload (post) to various social media from every destination they have visited. This, of course, will attract tourists when they see their uploads.
“That’s why we are also inviting them to be part of the improvement of our tourism economy,” Sandiaga said.
He hopes that the role of various sectors, including Gen Z, can accelerate the achievement of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy’s goal of reaching 1.2 billion to 1.5 billion domestic or national tourist visits by 2024, while the target for foreign tourists is 17 million visits.
The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is presenting an immersive wonderspace or space to explore five super priority destinations in Indonesia, which visitors can enjoy using video mapping technology at the Bundaran HI Jakarta MRT station.
Sandiaga said the immersive wonderspace presented at the Bundaran HI Jakarta MRT Station was designed to attract visitors to see and enjoy the beauty of five super priority destinations in Indonesia from the big screen, or to take selfies.
“This is the target for Gen Z. And Gen Z really wants an immersive experience that combines animation, real visualization and music. “This music is really healing, music that can take our memories to beautiful places,” he remarked.
In addition, five super-priority tourist destinations will be presented, namely Borobudur Temple, Labuan Bajo, Mandalika, Lake Toba and Likupang. Visitors can enjoy the sensation of traveling to these destinations digitally.
The immersive Wonderspace at Bundaran HI MRT Station will be presented for one month from June 1 to 30, 2024. Visitors can digitally explore a range of tourist destinations and take selfies at designated times from 10:00am to 10:00pm WIB.
“This music is really healing, music that can take our memories to beautiful places. So, it has been proven in several immersive activations that it is very popular among Gen Z,” Sandiaga concluded. [antaranews/photo special]
