CONSTRUCTION of the ceremonial field at the new capital city (IKN) Nusantara in East Kalimantan is 70 percent complete, according to the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR).
“The ceremonial field’s construction has reached a high rate of completion, at around 70%. God willing, the field will be ready by July,” PUPR Ministry’s Cipta Karya Director General, Diana Kusumastuti, remarked at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Friday (06/14), 2024.
She noted that the ceremonial field is planned to serve as a venue for a national dhikr event on August 1 and a national ceremony of Indonesia’s 79th Anniversary of Independence Day on August 17.
Diana Kusumastuti then remarked that the field has a capacity of over four thousand people, adding that her side had yet to receive information on the exact number of people invited to participate in the ceremony.
“The field can accommodate over four thousand people during the ceremony. However, matters related to the number of participants are managed by the Ministry of State Secretary. The PUPR Ministry is only tasked with preparing the field,” she revealed.
The official then stated that the work to construct the Presidential Office was 84% complete. Earlier, President Jokowi remarked that this year’s Independence Day national ceremony would be held at the IKN as well as Jakarta due to the ongoing capital city transition period.
He noted that Nusantara would serve as the sole host for the 2025 Independence Day ceremony after the issuance of a presidential decree on the transfer of the capital city.
“After a presidential decree regarding the capital relocation is issued, the ceremony will be held at the IKN,” President Jokowi remarked on Tuesday (June 11). [antaranews]
