PRESIDENT JOKOWI LAUNCHES DIGITALIZATION OF LICENSING FOR EVENT ORGANIZATION

PRESIDENT Joko Widodo officially launched the digitalization of event organizing licensing services to speed up the licensing process in Indonesia. The launch event was held at The Tribrata Darmawangsa, Jakarta, on Monday, (06/24), 2024.

In his speech, President Jokowi appreciated the existence of an integrated or Online Single Submission (OSS) system for organizing events. It is hoped that the digitization of the licensing process will make it easier for event organizers to process permits.

“Really provide certainty well in advance, really reduce our bureaucracy so that the emergence is cheaper and more open and transparent,” said the president.

Despite the digitization, President Jokowi emphasized the importance of event planning management by both the organizer and the government. According to the President, the application for permits should be done much earlier before the event is held.

“I also ask the event organizers to submit this well in advance, six months in advance, a year in advance, to apply for the permit first. “This means that there is good planning, good planning management when the event is held,” he continued.

With such planning, the head of state believes organizers can promote the event more widely. In addition, some approval processes do not take a long time.

“The government, government officials as well, was conveyed by the National Police Chief, the total can be submitted in just 14 days from several permits, so that the organizers can promote their events, can sell tickets well,” Jokowi added.

On this occasion, the President also said that holding events at national and international level can have a positive impact on the country. The president cited the example of Qatar, which was able to increase the country’s economic growth by hosting the 2022 World Cup.

“The 2022 World Cup in Qatar could boost Qatar’s economic growth from only 1.5% last year to 4.3% at the time of the event, and Qatar dared to spend US$220 billion for the event,” the President remarked.

Also accompanying the President at the launch event were Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister for State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir, Minister for Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono.
