NEED TO IMPROVE COOPERATION WITH BUSINESS WORLD: MINISTER BKPM

MINISTER of Investment and head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Rosan Roeslani, has said that cooperation with the business world in the investment sector would help the government support national economic growth.

“We must improve cooperation with the business world with existing regulations and corridors. This investment portion is too big to be carried out by the government only. We need cooperation with other parties,” he expounded on Monday (08/19), 2024.

According to Roeslani, the investment sector contributes at least 30 percent to Indonesia’s economic growth, besides strong domestic consumption, government spending, and exports.

“Therefore, investment will play a crucial role in the future. We must also continue the good work carried out by the previous minister, Bahlil Lahadalia. He had set the target quite high and had performed exemplary work. I hope the same support given to him is also given to me,” he added.

He said he believes that business success can be achieved with mutual cooperation under proper governance.

“There are only two months left, but in these two months, we will give our best. Even if it is only one day or one week, give your best,” he emphasized.

Roeslani was inaugurated as Minister of Investment and BKPM head by President Joko Widodo at the State Palace on Monday (08/19), 2024.

His appointment was based on Presidential Decree Number 92P of 2024 concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of State Ministers of the Onward Indonesia Cabinet for the 2019–2024 Period.

From the State Palace, he then attended the handover ceremony at the Investment Ministry, along with Deputy Minister of Investment/Deputy Head of BKPM, Yuliot Tanjung, high-ranking leaders, and employees from the Ministry of Investment/BKPM, and related associations.

He expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome from all leaders and employees at the ministry and BKPM. Roeslani said that with the new mandate entrusted to him, he hopes all personnel under the ministry will be able to work together to achieve the existing targets. [antaranews]
