STATE-OWNED HOTELS TO BE SOLD DURING PRABOWO ADMINISTRATION: HASYIM

THE ACTING-Head of the Prabowo-Gibran Transition Team’s housing task force, Hashim Djojohadikusumo, has expressed President-elect Prabowo Subianto’s desire to sell state-owned hotels.

This is in line with Prabowo’s statement at the Mandiri Investment Forum 2024 event at the Fairmont Hotel on March 5, 2024. Prabowo said that Indonesia does not need state-owned hotels or those under the auspices of state-owned enterprises.

“Prabowo has conveyed this, maybe (it will be) sold,” Hashim said in a dialogue titled “Business Opportunities in Welcoming the Prabowo-Gibran Administration” organized by ABAC and attended by regional Kadin chairmen and business association chairmen in Jakarta on Saturday (08/31), 2024.

According to Hashim, state-owned companies do not need to have state-owned hotels. “We already have many private (hotels), I know that state-owned hotels, my grandfather founded them. He used to be in charge of setting up government-owned hotels. There is Aston, there is Ayana, national hotels,” he said.

This is in line with what Prabowo said before Erick Thohir. He asked BUMN to free up the hotel sector.

“In my opinion, we don’t need state hotels. What do you think, Mr. Erick? I am asking for your advice. I want to ask for a rational and reasonable approval,” he said.

For information, this dialogue was filled with a number of speakers, such as the Minister of Investment of the Republic of Indonesia, Rosan Roeslani, Chairman of APEC BAC Indonesia and Chairman of the Advisory Council of KADIN Indonesia and CEO of Bakrie & Brothers, Anindya Bakrie, as well as senior representatives of the regional KADIN.
