INCREASING COLLABORATION TO BOOST GLOBAL CREATIVE ECONOMY: SANDIAGA

THE INDONESIAN Minister of Tourism and Creative Industry, Sandiaga Uno, continues to strive to increase international cross-sector collaboration to boost the global creative economy.

In the roundtable discussion at the International Creative Industry Conference & Festival 2024 at the Innovation and Creativity Center of Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta, on Thursday (09/26), 2024, he said that international collaboration has proven to be the most important factor in strengthening the creative economy sector.

“We are increasing the potential for international collaboration, international collaboration across sectors, so it’s not just the business, government or academic sectors, but we are also talking about the community,” he said.

Sandiaga explained that collaboration will open up new opportunities for Indonesia to increase the competitiveness of the creative industry globally. The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy plays an important role in promoting and facilitating this international collaboration.

“This platform, IC Fest, hopefully next year to increase this collaboration, we hope that next year it will be held even bigger, it can be juxtaposed with other major creative economy events,” Sandiaga underlined.

Sandiaga also said that the creative economy has become an important driver of economic growth, job creation and cultural exchange. This is also an effort to promote the importance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), which are very important for creative economy actors.

In addition to protecting ideas and works, IPR provides legal protection for works that are the result of human intellectual capacity.

“We also talked about intellectual property rights owned by the community. Now we package the discussion earlier and offer several agreements,” he concluded.

The Roundtable on “Building a Globally Competitive Music Ecosystem: Strategies and Challenges for Enhancing the Resilience and Development of the Music Industry and Other Creative Content,” were conducted interactively by different groups and focused on specific topics, focusing on each sub-sector of the creative industry.
