BALI ISLAND has once again maintained its reputation as one of the best destinations in Asia. In the Conde Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards 2024, Bali was named the best island in Asia with a score of 95.71. This award is based on the votes of readers in the United Kingdom who rate various destinations around the world.
The Readers’ Choice Awards, now in its 27th year, will be announced in early October 2024. Conde Nast Traveller is known as a luxury travel and lifestyle magazine based in New York, USA. The awards given by Conde Nast reflect the preferences and personal experiences of readers who have visited these places.
Bali’s advantages
One of the main factors that makes Bali superior is its stunning natural beauty, from white sandy beaches to enchanting green hills to a rich, well-preserved culture. Tourists can enjoy a combination of soothing natural beauty and warm local hospitality.
In addition, Bali is also known as a destination that can provide spiritual and relaxing experiences for tourists, with many yoga places, spas and meditation destinations spread throughout the island.
Lombok in 10th place
In addition to Bali, other islands in Asia are also included in the top 10 list of this year’s Readers’ Choice Awards. One of the Indonesian islands selected is Lombok, which ranked 10th with a score of 90.21.
Lombok offers natural beauty and is relatively quieter than Bali, so it is often the choice for tourists seeking peace and more private beauty. Lombok’s beaches, such as Senggigi Beach and Tanjung Aan, are known for their fine sand and clear waters.
In addition to Bali and Lombok, Thailand is also in the spotlight with three islands in the top list, namely Koh Samui in third place with a score of 94.29, Phuket in sixth place with a score of 90.83, and Koh Lanta in seventh place with a score of 90.71. Thailand is known for its beautiful islands, and all three offer a variety of activities, from diving and snorkeling to enjoying a vibrant nightlife.
In Vietnam, Phú Quoc came in second with a score of 95.36 and continues to be one of the most popular destinations in Southeast Asia thanks to its exotic beaches and peaceful atmosphere.
Malaysia also managed to place two of its islands on the list, with Langkawi in fourth place with a score of 94.21 and Penang in fifth place with a score of 91.34. Langkawi is known for its alluring beaches and luxurious resorts, while Penang offers a mix of rich cultural heritage and delicious local cuisine.
Travel Trends
Current travel trends as identified by Conde Nast show that travelers are not only interested in modern travel concepts such as coolcations or astrotourism, but are also looking to return to the simple desire to explore tropical islands that offer natural beauty and authentic experiences. The islands selected for the Readers’ Choice Awards reflect this interest, with Bali leading the way in Asia for its unique combination of nature, culture and hospitality. [sources/photo special]
