HANDOVER OF THE MINISTER OF TOURISM AND CREATIVE ECONOMY IN JAKARTA

THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy/Tourism and Creative Economy Agency held a handover ceremony from the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of Tourism and Creative Economy Agency of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of Creative Economy Agency of the Red and White Cabinet (period 2024-2029).

The handing over was done by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of Tourism and Creative Economy Agency for 2020-2024 period Sandiaga Uno to the Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana and the Minister of Creative Economy/Head of Creative Economy Agency Teuku Riefky Harsya in an event held at Soesilo Soedarman Hall, Sapta Pesona Building, Jakarta on Monday (10/21), 2024 afternoon.

Widiyanti Putri Wardhana and Teuku Rifki Harsya were previously inaugurated as Minister of Tourism and Minister of Creative Economy/Head of Creative Economy Agency in an inauguration ceremony held at the State Palace, Jakarta, Monday (10/21/2024) morning.

Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno in his remarks said on behalf of himself and also the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Deputy Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency for the period 2019-2024 Angela Tanoesoedibjo and all tourism and creative economy people in the country, welcome and congratulate the new Minister of Tourism and Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency.

“We are grateful to the presence of God Almighty that these two important portfolios (Tourism and Creative Economy) have been entrusted to the two best people the nation has,” said Sandiaga Uno.

He believes that under their leadership, the performance of tourism and creative industries will be much better in the future.

“I appeal to all levels of tourism and the creative economy to give the best contribution to these two extraordinary figures,” Sandiaga affirmed.

Sandiaga also conveyed his apologies and high appreciation to all levels of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy who have provided the best support in the development of tourism and creative economy.

“More and less, on behalf of Angela Tanoesoedibjo, I apologize from the bottom of my heart and express my gratitude for your cooperation. I hope our friendship will never be broken,” Sandiaga added.

Meanwhile Minister of Tourism, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, in her speech felt very honored to be able to continue the baton of leadership in the development of the tourism sector from the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno.

“This is a big responsibility, but I am very enthusiastic to work hard with all levels of the Ministry of Tourism,” said Tourism Minister Widiyanti.

Widiyanti said her role in the business world for more than 30 years has given her a lot of experience about the importance of a mature strategy as well as an efficient way of working and collaborating with various parties to achieve big goals.

“With this background, I bring a fresh perspective and enthusiasm to move Indonesia’s tourism world forward in the future,” said Widiyanti.

Indonesia’s tourism sector has currently achieved several major achievements. Indonesia’s tourism competitiveness is ranked 22nd out of 119 countries in the world in the TTDI 2024.

“In the future, we have big challenges, especially in developing Indonesia’s tourism potential. This transition is an important moment to ensure continuity and acceleration in achieving the Ministry’s goals. The contribution of Mr. Sandiaga and Ms. Angela is certainly very important to ensure a smooth and sustainable transition,” said Widiyanti.

Likewise, the Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, said the same thing. Under the leadership of Sandiaga Uno and Angela Tanoesoedibjo, there has been a great transformation in the creative economy sector.

“Our respect and pride to my friend, Mr. Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno. Also, my respect to Mrs. Deputy Minister Angela Tanoesoedibjo, of course, your golden achievements complement and provide extraordinary synergy,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky.

He said he was ready to work with the Ministry of Tourism to address various existing challenges.

“We believe that the synergy between the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Creative Economy cannot be separated. The transition in the next few months may have challenges, and we will also ask for the support of the Senior Minister (Sandiaga Uno) and Senior Deputy Minister (Angela Tanoesoedibjo) for the promotion of Indonesia’s creative economy,” Teuku Rifky concluded.
