AQUABIKE JETSKI WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2024 TO INCREASE TOURIST VISITS

THE AQUABIKE Jetski World Championship 2024, to be held at Lake Toba from November 13 to 17, 2024, is expected to increase tourist visits and improve community welfare.

According to Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana in the Aquabike Jetski World Championship press conference at the InJourney Office, Jakarta, Thursday (10/31), 2024, said holding events such as Aquabike can attract tourists and encourage the creation of economic opportunities for the surrounding community, ranging from transportation services, accommodation to local culinary delights that will be enjoyed by visitors.

“The Aquabike Jetski World Championship 2024 is the second year of the world-class jetski championship series held on the largest volcanic lake in the world, which is also one of the 5 Super Priority Destinations. A total of 73 racers from 30 countries will compete in this event. Not only international racers, but also 10 proud Indonesian jet ski racers will participate in this event,” she said.

Widiyanti explained that we hope that this event will run smoothly and have a positive impact on all of us. The 2024 Aquabike Jetski World Championship will be held in 4 large regencies around Lake Toba, namely Karo, Dairi, Simalungun and Samosir regencies.

“By combining the beautiful natural panorama of Lake Toba, the strong culture, I believe it will provide its own appeal to this international sporting event,” she noted

In addition, Tourism Minister Widiyanti said that this sporting event is also packaged with the Lake Toba People’s Party, which will offer a variety of activities and attractions that are expected to attract tourists to come and see firsthand the cultural diversity and feel the warmth of the Batak people.

“So later there will be side events like a music festival around Lake Toba, a micro small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) bazaar. So, this can be a forum for local artists to showcase the rich culture and musical traditions of North Sumatra,” Widiyanti affirmed.

On the same occasion, Deputy Minister of State Enterprises Kartika Wirjoatmodjo hopes that this event will be able to reach a wide audience in the international world, so that it will have a great multiplier effect on the regional economy.

“We would like to thank the Ministry of Tourism for its support, the sponsors and stakeholders who have contributed to the smooth running of this event,” Kartika remarked.

Meanwhile, Acting President Director of InJourney, Maya Watono, said that InJourney as a BUMN (State-Owned Enterprises) holding aviation and tourism is committed to continue to realize the revival of tourism in Indonesia, especially in super priority tourism destinations that have been planned by the government. One of them is by organizing international scale tourism attractions and events, namely the Aquabike Jetski World Championship 2024.

Maya is optimistic that the number of tourist visits to Lake Toba, which according to the New York Times is one of the top 52 tourist destinations in the world, will continue to increase. We predict that holding this event will have an economic impact of up to IDR1.7 trillion in the next few years.

Likewise, the acting governor of North Sumatra, Agus Fatoni, also expressed his support for the 2024 Aquabike Jetski World Championship to be held on Lake Toba.

“We strongly support it, the local government has allocated a special budget of IDR15.9 billion for this activity, while the city and district budgets are also quite a lot. Of course, this is very proud for North Sumatera, this is the second time it has been implemented, and we are grateful that North Sumatera has been given the opportunity once again. We will continue to support activities like this to boost the economy of North Sumatera, to develop tourism and of course to increase regional income,” Agus concluded. [traveltext.id]
