CELEBRATING ITS 29th ANNIVERSARY, H3 READY TO FACE FUTURE CHALLENGES

HOTEL PUBLIC Relations Association (H3) Indonesia celebrated its 29th anniversary, this thanksgiving celebration was accompanied by the election of the H3 Chairperson and its management for the 2025-2026 period, held on December 10, 2024 at the Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel, Jakarta.

H3, which was founded 29 years ago, on November 27, 1995, was established as an organization/association for public relations practitioners in the Indonesian tourism sector, especially the Indonesian hotel sector.

According to Yulia Maria, Chairperson of H3 Indonesia for the period 2022-2024, who was also re-elected for the next 2 years (2025-2026), in her opening speech, said that 29 years has been an extraordinary journey for H3 as a professional organization in the Indonesian hotel industry. Many achievements have been made, of course, thanks to the hard work, dedication and cooperation of the public relations professionals gathered in H3.

“Therefore, we would like to thank all H3 members who have become an irreplaceable part of this journey. Let us continue to innovate, share ideas and strengthen cooperation networks to promote Indonesian tourism, especially the Indonesian hotel industry,” said Yulia Maria.

She explained that H3 aims to strengthen communication among fellow public relations practitioners with the principles of mutual sharpening, compassion, nurturing, promoting and developing the profession of public relations practitioners as well as maintaining and enhancing the positive image of the hotel industry in particular and the Indonesian tourism industry in general.

“With the ratification as a legal entity, H3 is now officially H3 Indonesia, which has several regional management bodies such as Regional Management Board (BPD) H3 Yogyakarta and BPD H3 Surabaya, as well as other BPDs that will soon be formed in other cities in Indonesia,” she said.

Yulia Maria added that well, H3 was established as a professional organization in the field of public relations for the Indonesian hotel industry with the aim of promoting unity and development of the public relations profession in the tourism sector.

H3 will positively contribute to the development and growth of Indonesian tourism, especially in the hospitality sector, in order to improve professional knowledge and skills in the field of public relations. This association positions itself as a partner of the government and participates in the implementation of national development.

Meanwhile, Alexander Nayoan, BBA., CHA as representative board of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) said that more than anything else, the task of public relations is a vital element in corporate communications. In addition to communicating messages that are in line with business values and objectives, it also maintains the reputation of a brand. The position of public relations will continue to be needed in the future.

“But unfortunately, the function of public relations has been replaced by digital marketing at the moment. Why do I say that, because digital marketing as a new, broad marketing tool, in the development of public relations values for modern companies in the era of global competition with a mature market and this has a transformative impact of digital marketing on public relations (PR) strategies,” Alex affimed.

Well, he continued, to face future challenges, there needs to be cooperation between PHRI and H3 to create a certification program for public relations, which is considered quite useful for hotel public relations in facilitating a PR in a career in the hotel world and so that this PR profession is still considered important in society.

Alex Nayoan concluded that the most important thing in terms of both Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) and Hotel Public Relations Association (H3) with a goal of promoting unity and advancing the development of the public relations profession in the tourism sector. [traveltext.id]
