TOURISM MINISTRY CHECKS INFRASTRUCTURE IN KAMPUNG TUA TANJUNG RIAU

THE MINISTRY of Tourism through the Deputy Minister of Tourism Ni Luh Puspa reviewed the infrastructure previously built by the Ministry of PUPR in Kampung Tua Tanjung Riau, Batam, Riau Islands to ensure that tourists are comfortable to visit.

“I see that Tanjung Riau is actually already good because the PUPR Ministry has built a supporting jetty, but what is still homework is maintenance and waste management,” said Deputy Tourism Minister Ni Luh in an official statement in Jakarta on Monday.

During her visit, she reviewed the infrastructure development of the waterfront, which provides the attraction of the open sea view.

She also encouraged Kampung Tua to strengthen the attractiveness of tourist destinations. In this regard, she said the government is ready to encourage with various programs that can support the strengthening of destination governance and attractions to be of quality and sustainable.

“There must be a strengthening of attractions that make people interested in continuing to come. We also hope that the local government can strengthen waste management in tourist attractions,” said Ni Luh Puspa.

Ni Luh said that infrastructure development has become very important since the COVID-19 pandemic changed people’s behavior and travel paradigms.

This strengthens the reasons for the government to create quality and sustainable tourism. Where some of the aspects emphasized are cleanliness, safety and tourist comfort.

This focus is also in line with the direction of tourism sector development based on President Prabowo Subianto’s Astacita, which aims to create new sources of economic growth with the principle of development programs that lead to quality and sustainable tourism development.

“So when I see the garbage when we enter (the area), it is still not maintained, not clean. That is still homework, so I met with the community here, met with the sub-district head, head of the tourism office, and of course all need to be considered,” said the Deputy Minister of Tourism.

In addition to infrastructure development, the government, through the Ministry of Tourism, will also launch the flagship Clean Tourism Movement, which aims to improve the cleanliness of tourist destinations by working with all stakeholders and ensuring active community participation.

The Clean Tourism Movement is considered in line with Astacita, namely strengthening the alignment of harmonious life with the natural and cultural environment, increasing tolerance among religious communities to achieve a just and prosperous society.

“The Clean Tourism Movement is one of the quick wins of the Ministry of Tourism, whose goal is to increase competitiveness. And it will temporarily focus on 5 DPSP and 3 larger, namely Jakarta, Bali and Kepri,” she concluded. [antaranews]
