37 INJOURNEY AIRPORTS TO SERVE 155.9 MILLION PASSENGERS DURING 2024

A TOTAL of 37 airports managed by PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia or InJourney Airports have served 155.9 million passengers in 2024.

From January to December 2024, the number of aircraft passengers at 37 InJourney airports reached 155.9 million, consisting of 118.03 million domestic passengers and 37.90 million international passengers. The number of aircraft passengers at all InJourney airports reflects 90 percent of the total number of aircraft passengers in Indonesia.

“The number increased by about 4 percent compared to January – December 2023 of 150.1 million passengers,” said InJourney Airports President Director Faik Fahmi in a written statement quoted by Tempo, Thursday, January 16, 2025. Meanwhile, aircraft movements decreased by 4 percent from 1.21 million flights in 2023 to 1.16 million flights in 2024.

Faik added that the increase in the number of passengers amid the decrease in aircraft movements indicates that InJourney Airports, together with the airlines, could optimize slot times at the airports and promote passenger occupancy rates (load factors) at a high level.

“The increase in the number of passengers was driven by the strong cooperation of the aviation ecosystem to maintain the positive trend of the post-pandemic aviation market,” he affirmed.

According to Faik, InJourney Airports’ airports are striving to further promote the growth of the aviation market and strengthen air connectivity in Indonesia by opening new routes and increasing flight frequencies on existing routes. “This is a joint effort to further strengthen the aviation sector’s contribution to national economic and tourism growth,” he said.

Serve 200 routes
In 2024, InJourney Airports will serve around 200 flight routes, with a composition of 60 percent domestic routes and 40 percent international routes.

“The growth of domestic and international routes has been very good and has been running in harmony over the last year, in line with the government’s policy regarding the determination of 17 international airports by April 2024,” Faik said. Of the 17 international airports, 16 are managed by InJourney Airports.

5 busiest airports
Based on last year’s passenger traffic, there are five InJourney airports that are included in the busiest category in Indonesia. The five airports are Soekarno-Hatta Airport Tangerang (54.8 million passengers), I Gusti Ngurah Rai Bali (23.9 million passengers), Juanda Surabaya (14 million passengers), Sultan Hasanuddin Makassar (9.6 million passengers) and Kualanamu Deli Serdang (7.1 million passengers).

In addition, InJourney Airports was also able to significantly increase cargo volume in 2024 to 1,439 metric tons, or 14% higher than 2023’s 1,260 metric tons. “The significant increase in cargo volume is partly driven by the growth of the digital economy,” Faik concluded. [sources/photo special]
