THE PROVINCIAL government of Bali is aiming to draw 6.5 million foreign tourists to the province this year, Head of the Tourism Office of Bali, Tjok Bagus Pemayun, informed in Denpasar, Bali, on Tuesday (01/21), 2025.
The target for domestic tourist visits is up to 10.5 million, he said, adding that the target is realistic considering that in 2024, the number of foreign tourist arrivals in Bali reached around 6.3 million.
“However, if foreign tourists who came from other Indonesian regions and entered Bali via Gilimanuk Port or domestic flights are included, the Bali Tourism Office put the estimate at seven million in total in 2024. The 6.3 million arrivals are from direct flights (to Bali),” he said.
He outlined that the challenge in 2025 is handling problems that affect foreign tourist arrivals, namely congestion, garbage, and land use conversion.
Pemayun has identified the problems to be followed up. The provincial government will also boost law enforcement measures while serving as a regulator and facilitator, while expecting assistance from tourism stakeholders in the field.
“We will start to carry out law enforcement measures because, in terms of regulations, the tourism players think they are already complete. What is left to do is the implementation and synchronization,” he said.
To attract foreign tourists, the Bali Tourism Office has launched the 2025 Calendar of Events, featuring as many as 54 events, with 45 being cultural events, including the ogoh-ogoh (giant effigies) parade in March and the Bali International Air Show in September. [antaranews/photo special]
