INDONESIA GLOBAL PRODUCER AND INNOVATOR IN TOYS, COMICS: IRENE UMAR

DEPUTY Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar stated that Indonesia has evolved from being solely a market for toys and comics to becoming a producer and innovator in the global ecosystem.

She made this remark at the Jakarta 20th Toys & Comics Fair, held at Balai Kartini, here on (02/8), 2025. The annual event serves as a meeting platform for creators, collectors, and fans of toys and comics from domestic and abroad. This year, the exhibition featured 200 booths, with 25% originating from abroad, reflecting Indonesia’s appeal as a creative industry hub internationally.

“Today, we see 200 booths, of which 25 percent come from abroad. This shows that Indonesia is not only a market but also a creator that is recognized at the global stage,” Umar said in the ministry’s statement here on Sunday (02/9), 2025.

The deputy minister also highlighted the ministry’s role as a new economic driver, with its concept of “New Engine of Growth”.

“The government is aware of the creative industry’s importance in driving economic growth. Hence, the ministry is here to support creators in becoming not only successful in their own country but also in penetrating the global market,” she noted.

Irene Umar emphasized that the ministry will continue to provide facilitation, training, and support to enhance creators’ competitiveness and expand their business reach abroad. [traveltext.id]
