THE MINISTRY of Tourism has expressed its appreciation for the support and active cooperation of various parties in the organization of MotoGP Mandalika and Aquabike World Champions Lake Toba 2024, so that the two world-class events could have a great impact on Indonesia’s tourism sector.
According to the Minister of Tourism, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana Widiyanti, when attending the “Appreciation Night MotoGP Mandalika and Aquabike World Champions Lake Toba” event organized by ITDC at Plataran Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday (02/07), 2025 said that the close collaboration between the government, BUMN and the private sector is proof that solid cooperation can have a real positive impact on the tourism industry.
“The contributions made by all parties not only enhance Indonesia’s image in the eyes of the world, but also have a real impact on national economic growth. MotoGP Mandalika 2024, which was held at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit on September 27-29, 2024, managed to attract more than 129 thousand spectators,” she said.
He explained that the economic impact reached IDR4.8 trillion. The event, which was held in one of the Super Priority Destinations, also created 30 thousand job opportunities. Meanwhile, the Aquabike World Champions Lake Toba on November 13-17, 2024 managed to attract more than 200 thousand visitors.
“This event has an economic impact of IDR345.5 billion and contributed to the creation of 3,000 jobs, further strengthening Lake Toba’s position as a world-class water sports tourism destination,” Widiyanti elaborated.
The success of the two events is also part of the extraordinary achievements of Indonesia’s tourism sector, which managed to record 13.9 million foreign tourist visits and more than 1 billion domestic tourist trips in 2024.
“This shows that the organization of quality mega events such as MotoGP and Aquabike plays a strategic role in the growth of the tourism industry. I would also like to commend ITDC and InJourney for ensuring the readiness of the infrastructure and operational events to the highest standards,” she affirmed.
This success, Widiyanti continued, must be used as a common momentum to further improve the standards of organizing international events in Indonesia. We hope that this partnership can continue in future events so that Indonesia is increasingly considered as a host for various world competitions.
The same was conveyed by the President Director of PT Pengembangan Pariwisata Indonesia or Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), Ari Respati, who said I invite all parties to continue to give full support because both MotoGP and Aquabike Lake Toba are not just racing events but symbols of pride for the Indonesian nation.
“Not about racing and ITDC, but about us Indonesia. Hopefully this event will continue for the people of Mandalika, NTB and Indonesia. MotoGP Mandalika 2025 is scheduled to take place again on October 3-5, 2025,” Ari Respati concluded. [traveltext.id]
