COMMISSION VII CALLS FOR PRIVATE SECTOR AND ARTISTS TO PROMOTE TOURISM

COMMISSION VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives has asked the Ministry of Tourism to involve other parties such as the private sector and artists or influencers to promote the tourism sector in Indonesia.

According to the Chairman of Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Saleh Partaonan Daulay in a working meeting with the Ministry of Tourism at the Senayan Parliament Complex, Jakarta on Wednesday (02/12), 2025, said that the development of tourism potential does not always have to use government funds, but can also come from private investment.

“I see that not all tourism potential development must use government money, it could use private money. I emphasize that there are several factors that make private investment in Indonesian tourism not optimal, including security reasons and the mentality of the local community that does not support it,” said Saleh.

He explained that the local mentality, for example, there is a tourist spot that is actually good, beautiful, people want to come there, but the mentality of the local community does not support it. There are pickpockets, there are people who get angry, there are people on motorbikes who get pushed, well, if there is that mentality, the entrepreneur sees ‘oh that is not suitable’.

He gave an example that tourism in Bali can develop rapidly, not only driven by its natural beauty, but also supported by the local community who can adapt to tourists.

Therefore, Saleh encouraged that this adaptive nature can also be transferred to all potential tourist destinations, one of which is by increasing socialization.

“Bali can develop greatly due to several factors, and one of the factors that is developing rapidly is not only because its nature is beautiful, but in fact its people are willing to adapt to other cultures, other people, even adapt to the language,” he affirmed.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives Evita Nursanty emphasized the importance of the role of artists and influencers in promoting Indonesia’s tourism destinations.

“We can also invite our famous artists and people with large audiences to promote our tourism. I compared this to artists in South Korea who voluntarily promote tourism and major events in the country as a form of devotion to the government,” Evita added.

She concluded that in Korea, all movie stars have a CSR to the government, they have to promote our government for free. I encourage this promotion method to be applied in Indonesia by inviting artists or influencers to promote Indonesian tourist destinations. [antaranews]
